L'Oreal Brandstorm is one of Thailand's most prestigious brand competitions for any undergraduate student looking for a marketing challenge with a realistic reflection of real world businesses. This year in particular was even more challenging, as the given task was to disrupt men's grooming for one of L'Oreal's leading brands: L'Oreal Men Expert. Participants are required to pitch a product idea and show how it will be marketed with a digital marketing campaign. Moreover the competition stretches for a rigorous 4-month period cover 3 rounds of judging and evaluation with the winners of the 3rd round going to the Asia Pacific round and then to Paris for the global finals.

Each team consisted of 3 participants who, for the first round, must pitch an idea in just 3 slides. This may seem like less work, but in fact, it is a real challenge as you must highlight the most attractive propositions and show how they are linked together. For second round, a presentation of the 3 slides is required where we were able to elaborate on our idea in 10 minutes or less followed by a Q and A session from a panel of L'Oreal's management team. The third round is where participants get to extend their 3 slide pitch, refine their ideas and present in front of an even more impressive panel of judges as well as the public.

I, on behalf of team pH 5.5 can say that we are incredibly proud of our performance in both the progression of our work as well as the final presentation. From the logic of the slides to the presentation flow, down to the word choice for every slide, we truly did one hell of a job! Even though we didn't advance to the fourth round, this experience has been more than fulfilling and it has brought with it, a great learning experience as well as a rich bonding experience. This simply shows that as long as you put your best effort into anything, no matter the results, you will always be happy - definitely a great mindset to adopt!

I would also like to express my thanks to numerous people who have helped us in different forms, including providing testimonials for our video, advice and feedback on how to improve, and the emotional support to keep us going through day and night. Special shout outs to Dr. Nopporn Ruangwanit and Ajarn Supawat Likittanawong for providing us valuable insights that help us made it to this point!

Finally, for students who are interested to participate, I highly advise you do it as the benefits and learning experience from L'Oreal Brandstorm is unattainable elsewhere. This is your opportunity to be creative, truly express yourself, and have fun in a business environment.
