It all began when I, Patitta Tanchookiat (BBA #25) and my friends Thanaporn Sukijnitiyakarn (BBA #25) and Sudamat Kengrungruengchai (BBA #25) got together discussing what we want to do before we finish our studies at BBA. We have competed together once when we were freshers and made it to the semi-finals of HSBC Business Case Competition. We are now in our last semester, so we decided to give it all in our last ever case competition, L’Oreal Brandstorm 2020.
L’Oreal Brandstorm is the ultimate innovation case competition, bringing together groundbreaking ideas and business models. Our team is passionate about innovation and felt that L’Oreal Brandstorm really allowed us to challenge our creativity side. The topic for this year is “Building a Plastic-less future in the Beauty industry”. As strong advocates for a better environment, we were extremely excited about working on this case.
The journey was tough yet fulfilling and enjoyable at the same time. We dug into deep research about plastic-less innovations as well as how to improve the circular system. To pitch our idea in just 5 minutes was also new challenge for us. However, we were able to leverage on our presentation skills developed throughout BBA.
All in all, the learning curve on this project was tremendous. There were many obstacles amidst the COVID-19 situation where the semi-final pitching took place online. Regardless, our team pulled through to the finals and won first place in the competition. We were able to combine our innovative side with key business principles to build a product that we are truly proud of, which led us to the overwhelming result.
Although this year we will not be able to compete in Paris, we are extremely honored to be representing not only BBA Thammasat but also Thailand in the International round.
