The conventional way of study in which every student is familiar with is to learn and understand what is being written inside each chapter of the books. After understanding major contents from the book, implementation of the things learnt in reality is the next issue that every student has to encounter. However, not all of them are able to think what and how to relate things they learnt with their real lives and this has still been one of the critical concerns in todays study. How about reversing the process by just simply look at what actually happen in the real world and relate them to those contents mentioned in the books, this is the way MK342-343 (Doing business in Japan) used in order to let the student to see a very crystal-clear picture of Japanese marketing by encouraging the student to explore a variety types of market in Japan, discussing the similarities and differences and finally creating practical ideas and knowledge.

This 5-day Japan Study Trip was really amazing and it was not an ordinary study trip like everyone thought. In order to travel there in Japan, it is necessary for the students to prepare the routes to each place by themselves such as the train routes and which directions to walk without just following the teachers. This not only helps to teach the students how to prepare themselves beforehand and build sustainable relationships with friends, but also promotes the concept of learning by doingto the students. All places planned and needed to be explored had their own characteristics and uniqueness ranging from Edo-Tokyo Museum which is considered to be one of the most popular museum in Japan, Sugamo the shopping district along Yamanote Line that is famously suit the elderly to Ginza the tokyos most famous upmarket shopping, dining and entertainment areas and many other places. Every night after exploring each place, all the students and teacher will discuss and share the information about each place in order to crystallize the concept of marketing. Moreover, the students are required to prepare creative projects to present to Japanese university students to gain more understandings about Japanese markets so they can use all the comments and suggestions to further improve their projects.

This trip proves that learning and fun can be happened simultaneously and these two components will facilitate the students to generate creative but practical ideas. Furthermore, different marketing strategies are not the only thing students get from exploring Japan and studying in this course, but the new interesting culture and self-improvement are also implicitly learnt together with all necessary fundamental knowledge students need to get from this course. From my point of view, this course provides a different way for student to study what actually happen about marketing and I hope that this course will continuously encourage and develop new generations to understand the reality better by learning from it. Thank you BBA for opening this course and a very important person Assoc. Prof. Dr. Patnaree Srisuphaolarnfor supervising this course and a very fantastic Japan Trip.
